DoNotSign = 0

Nothing. For testing only: an unsigned assertion is a credential anyone can write.

SignResponse = 1

The Response element, whose signature covers the assertion inside it.

SignAssertion = 2

The Assertion. The default, and what every SAML 2.0 service provider accepts.

SignBoth = SignResponse | SignAssertion

The assertion, then the response around it.
